Jamal is originally from Chicago, IL and attended Benedict College and Strayer University. He decided to pursue accounting because he enjoys working with numbers. Jamal’s experience includes entity tax returns, and he is excited to learn more about individual tax during his internship with TLG. Jamal’s hobbies include cooking and grilling for his family and friends, reading, and sports.

The mission of The First Tee of Greater Charleston is to positively impact the lives of our local youth by providing structured educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.
On September 28, 2020, golf enthusiasts will take the formidable challenge to play 100 holes of golf in one day to raise money and awareness for First Tee of Greater Charleston. Golfers will play all day – walking, running, and riding 20+ miles, and taking hundreds of swings.

Mark, a Senior Tax Manager, joined our team in August 2020. Mark graduated from Trinity International University where he received a Bachelor’s in Accounting while starring as the kicker for the school football team and top scorer on the soccer team. Mark thrives in a team environment which makes him a perfect fit for The Lanning Group.
Mark strives to be a trusted advisor for clients and takes great pride in providing a sense of understanding in complex situations. He has worked in public accounting for over 10 years and specializes in closely held businesses, individual and business tax planning, and real estate transactions.
In 2017, Mark and his wife relocated from the Chicago area to Charleston where they live with their dog Coco. Mark enjoys the outdoors and continues to stay active in the community by serving on the board of the Coastal Chapter of SCACPA.
